Kenya
Kenya is normally the place people think of when they hear the word “safari”. It has 13 national game parks of which the most famous is the Masai Mara where the “big five” (lions, elephants, buffalos, rhinos, leopards) can all be found.
Our Masai Mara favourites
Tassia Lodge: This is the ultimate luxury safari eco-lodge. No trees were cut down in order to build it, and the electricity is solar-powered. It is Masai-owned, which means that profits go to the community.
Kicheche Camp: A small luxury camp that caters for just 22 people. It has luxurious tents with proper beds and en suite bathrooms.
But the best thing about Kicheche is its location. It is situated so deep into the bush that, “lions, elephants, buffaloes and leopards” roam the (unfenced) camp at night, but don’t worry guards are on duty throughout the night to make sure the animals don’t get too close!
Other Kenyan favourites:
Elsa’s Kopje: Located in the untamed wilderness of the Meru National Park. They have 10 beautiful designed and decorated thatched cottages and lodges.
One of the bathroom's at Elsa Kopje.
